The 911 caller could see flames from their home but was unsure what was burning. Our first unit arrived at 1:35 and found a large 2-story house with heavy fire pushing from the front and 2nd story. We were unable to determine if the home was occupied at the time of the fire. We searched areas of the home that we were able to. However, we later found a deceased dog inside the home. Once the fire was under control, we continued searching the home, as well as Eaton County 911, Michigan State Police, and Charlotte Police Department following leads to try and locate the occupant of the home. Around 7:00 am the occupant was safely located at a friend's house. Other fire departments that assisted at the scene were Olivet Fire Department and Bellevue Community Fire Dept. The fire took approximately 30,000 gallons of water to extinguish and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
